Test #2

1. Top: Roofing (4mm/0.15”)

2. Middle: akuSta-Plast Fire Stop (2.5mm/ 0.08”)

3. Bottom: Polystyrene

 

Results:

• 2.5mm/ 0.08” of akuSta-Plast Fire Stop reduce the temperature from 1,200 C to 200 C

• Polystyrene starts burning at a much lower temperature than roofing. Thanks to akuSta-Plast Fire Stop the temperature remains far below the ignition point.

 

Test #3

1. Top: Hard plywood board (20mm/0.8”)

2. Middle: Hard plywood board )20mm/0.8”) protected by akuSta-Plast Fire Stop (2.5mm/ 0.08”)

3. Bottom: Hard plywood board )20mm/0.8”)

 

Results:

• The unprotected hard plywood board loses its structural integrity within seconds. A wooden staircase would be completely unusable.

• A wooden staircase protected by akuSta-Plast Fire Stop could still be used during evacuation or fire fighters entering the building.
